The Core Facility for Bioinformatics of the Philippine Genome Center is conducting a lecture titled ‘Introduction to Next Generation Sequencing Data Analysis‘ from 8 AM to 6 PM in the AVR, The Marine Science Institute, University of the Philippines, Diliman, Quezon City.
Genome Assembly, Annotation and Variant Calling Training And Workshop (CSRC, Jan. 2016) by the Core Facility for Bioinformatics
A workshop on “Informatics in Biomedical Research & Health”
On June 9-11, the Philippine Genome Center through its DNA Sequencing Core Facility (DSCF) and Core Facility for Bioinformatics (CFB) conducted a three-day workshop entitled “Introduction to (Meta)Genomics Analysis”.
Metagenomics is the study of genetic material recovered directly from environmental samples. The broad field may also be referred to as environmental genomics, ecogenomics or community genomics (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metagenomics). Select researchers and staff from DOST’s Industrial Technology Development Institute were treated to the concepts and tools in metagenomics as well as hands-on exercises in bioinformatics and DNA sequencing.
Forensic science is the scientific method of gathering and examining information about the past. It has been made popular with the emergence of television series on crime scene investigation, law profession and court room drama.
With the opening of the Philippine Genome Center (PGC) in 2012, basic and applied research for health diagnostics, therapeutics, DNA forensics and drug discovery has started to gain momentum in the country.
