The UP College of Science in partnership with the Philippine Genome Center is organizing a Systems Biology symposium on January 17, 2018 at the UP CS admin auditorium from 8:30am-12:00nn. The event is titled the “Dr. Baltazar Aguda Research Symposium” in recognition of Dr. Aguda’s contributions in Systems Biology.
Shaping the key to unlocking cancer
The predictions produced by the CGSB to guide the laboratory work are expected to cut down on discovery times dramatically. Moreover, Aguda envisions the CGSB to contribute several innovative algorithms and software for use by the global scientific community.
Systems Biology to Overcome TRAIL Resistance in Cancer Treatment
Over the last decade, our research team has investigated the dynamic responses and global properties of living cells using systems biology approaches. More specifically, we have developed computational models and statistical techniques to interpret instructive cell signaling and high-throughput transcriptome-wide behaviors of immune, cancer, and embryonic development cells.
Systems Biology in the Philippines: Past, Present and Potential
Systems Biology activities in the Philippines began in early 2003 with courses on modeling biological networks at NIMBB and the Math Department, as well as the launch of the Mathematical Life Sciences Initiative (MLSI). The talk will present briefly the highlights of the First Decade of Systems Biology in the Philippines (2003-2013)-considered as the “Past”-which consisted largely of Filipino computational scientists collaborating with foreign experimental researchers.
