The Protein, Proteomics, and Metabolomics Facility with Medical Test Systems co-hosted the Multi-Omics Sample Preparation Solution Workshop on September 17, 2026. The one-day workshop provided the participants with hands-on training in sample preparation for multi-omics analysis. It featured the use of a multi-omics sample extraction platform that can be used to prepare material from a single sample for genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics.

The workshop comprises lectures on an introduction to the KingFisher Apex system and the principle of the Protein/DNA/RNA sequential kit. Hands-on sessions in multi-omics sample preparation and sample extraction workflows were also conducted. Additionally, participants gained practical experience in preparing biological samples for downstream analysis across genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics platforms. The activity also demonstrated the feasibility of multi-omics analysis using a single sample.

The Multi-Omics Sample Preparation Solution Workshop provided a venue for connecting its participants from the Philippine Genome Center (PGC), the University of the Philippines Manila (UPM), and the University of the Philippines Diliman National Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (UPD-NIMBB) to foster interdisciplinary collaboration.
