bioinformatics-workshop-032012

PGC hosted a bioinformatics workshop entitled ‘Conducting Genomic Research in the Era of Next Generation Genotyping and Sequencing’ last March 20-22, 2012 at the National Institute of Molecular Biology & Biotechnology (NIMBB) and the Computer Science Research Center (CSRC) in UP Diliman. Distinguished faculty from the National University of Singapore (NUS), King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), and Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) were invited to teach and facilitate the workshop which aimed to introduce new technologies and techniques in genotyping and genomic research to Philippine researchers. These topics included next generation genotyping and sequencing, genome wide association studies (GWAS) and their public databases, population genetics, network science, plus some hands-on activities using the statistical software R and other programs. This workshop is just one of the many activities that PGC will be conducting to promote more genomic research in the country, so we hope to see you in our future workshops!
