Project Title: Genomic and Clinical Characterization of an Emerging SARS-CoV-2 Variant P.3 in the Philippines
Cooperating Agency: Department of Health – Epidemiology Bureau (DOH-EB)
Funding Agency: Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Council for Health Research and Development
Project Leader: Cynthia P. Saloma, PhD

About the Project
This study aims to document the clinical presentation of previously identified cases of the P.3 (Theta) variant and other Variants of Concern (VOC) in the country and monitor their clinical course and serum immunology over a period of one year. All clinical evaluation and blood tests performed shall be done free of charge. In addition, clinical follow-up and an explanation of immune findings shall be provided by the proponents of the study on a need-to-know basis.

Objective
The project aims to characterize the clinical and serologic presentation of identified cases P.3 in the Philippines.

Methodology
The study is being conducted as a longitudinal observational study involving four regions, Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Western Visayas, and Central Visayas, which represent the main epicenters of the pandemic with the highest probability of encountering a P.3 variant based on existing identification of case variants.
