Computational Genomics and Systems Biology
The Computational Genomics and Systems Biology (CGSB) Program is the newest research program of the Philippine Genome Center, having been established in 2017. The CGSB Program’s main function is to conduct research in designing new methods for genetic and genomic data analysis, creating computational models to perform in silico simulation and analysis of biological systems, and developing software tools to implement those methods and models. The CGSB Program also aims to work with the other branches of the PGC to apply quantitative methods in understanding their own research problems in biology.
Together with the Bioinformatics Team, the CGSB Program works to promote computational analyses as a standard feature in Philippine life science research endeavors. The program envisions itself as a world class program in computational genomics and systems biology and a Philippine leader in cutting-edge research and development in the field.
