On January 8 and 9, 2024, the Protein, Proteomics, and Metabolomics Facility (PPMF) organized a comprehensive training session titled “Archaea Lipidomics: Principles and Applications” (focused on Instrumentation for lipid, metabolites, and pollutant analyses) in conjunction with the UP Diliman Marine Science Institute (MSI). The event was attended by participants from both the UP Diliman Marine Science Institute and the Institute of Chemistry, offering them a thorough exploration of diverse subjects related to LC-MS and other instrumentation used in environmental analysis. Dr. Caroline Jaraula, the Principal Investigator of the MSI OASIS Geochemistry Laboratory and also a Hosting Professor for the training, delivered an insightful presentation on “Paleotemperature Reconstructions in Sediment Core in Davao.” Dr. Diana Aga, a Visiting Professor from the University of Buffalo, Department of Chemistry, conducted a lecture on “Target and non-target analyses of PPCPs and PFAS.” Mr. John Michael (JM) Aguilar, a visiting researcher and PhD student under the guidance of Dr. Aga, shared his expertise on “Paleoclimate Reconstructions in Arctic Sub-Ice Sediments.” The two-day training, in collaboration with the PPMF, provided a valuable platform for attendees to acquire in-depth knowledge and practical insights into the presented topics.
