The protein, proteomic, and metabolomics facility offers many services geared toward protein analysis, proteomics, and metabolomics. These range from sample preparation, protein purification, protein characterization and quantification, to proteomics and metabolomics analysis using high resolution mass spectrometry. We invite you to check our website at https://pgc.up.edu.ph/services/protein-proteomics-and-metabolomics/ for more details.

You may also email us at ppmfacility@up.edu.ph for further discussions on our offered services.

The modular analysis plan is a way for researchers to select a customized workflow. Through this, clients can mix and match complementary services they wish to avail from the facility to suit their research needs.

The service workflow depends on whether the client would like to use the equipment or to avail sample or data analysis services.

To use the equipment for short-term (≤ 3 months) or long-term (> 3 months) durations:

  1. Inquire about the equipment you would like to avail.
  2. Provide a training certificate from workshop/PPMF and/or endorsement letter from supervisor/advisor
  3. Request a quotation
  4. Schedule a meeting or consultation with the staff. Revise workflow/quotation if needed.
  5. Agree to the terms and conditions of PPMF by signing the Client Conforme (short-term use) or Memorandum of Agreement (long-term use)
  6. Fill out and submit accomplished forms (Client information sheet for new clients, and Client conforme/Memorandum of Agreement)
  7. Receive Billing Invoice, Order of Payment for processing of payment
  8. Provide either proof of full payment or a processed purchase order by completing the Client payment form
  9. Check service list and requirements for sample submission
  10. Know the availability of the equipment and accomplish the Order Form III – Equipment Rental for reservation.
  11. Receive Acknowledgement receipt, and confirmed availability of equipment
  12. Perform the experiment with PPMF staff supervision
  13. Receive Service Report and Official receipt/s
  14. Acknowledge the receipt of service report/s or notice/s of project completion for long-term use of equipment.

To avail sample or data analysis services for short-term or long-term clients:

*Long-term clients are those who intend to avail of the services of the PPMF in the form of a collaborative project.

A Short-term Client is an individual who wishes to avail the PPMF services and analyze their samples for a short period of time. Short-term Clients shall have to sign a Client Conforme agreeing to the terms and conditions of the facility.

A Long-term Client is an individual who wishes to avail of the services of the PPMF in the form of a collaborative project. Long-term Clients shall have to sign a Memorandum of Agreement between the University of the Philippines System – Philippine Genome Center and the collaborating institution.

You may check the requirements for each service by looking through our list of Sample Submission Requirements to prepare your samples accordingly. You may also consult with the PPMF if the sample is sufficient for the requested analysis.

You must check your protein concentration or amount based on our sample requirements for the LC-MS services prior to submission before sending your samples. You may consult with the PPMF if this is sufficient for the requested analysis. Some of our procedures require a minimum concentration in order for the service to proceed.  For your convenience, the PPMF also offers protein quantification services that you may avail if you cannot check your own sample concentrations.

Please read the sample submission requirements thoroughly before sending us your samples. We suggest that these be sent through official courier services, and stored accordingly (i.e., with dry ice or ice packs if needed) to prevent sample degradation during transport. Depending on the sample, we may need to perform quality control steps, such as PAGE or quantification, to determine its suitability for analysis.  An itemized list of the services conducted for the sample will be provided in the billing statement.

Samples should be sent to the following address:
Philippine Genome Center Building
Ma. Regidor St., University of the Philippines
Diliman, Quezon City 1101
Philippines

The PPMF will receive samples from Monday to Thursday, 8:00 am 3:00 pm.

We offer consultation services here in the PPMF so that we can provide the best services available. We invite you to check our website at https://pgc.up.edu.ph/services/protein-proteomics-and-metabolomics/ for more details. You may also email us at ppmfacility@up.edu.ph to talk more about our services.

You can request a quotation from us so you can get a budgetary estimate for the service.  For a quote, please complete the Service Quotation Request form. You may also email us with the subject “RFQ: [Date MMDDYY] – [Last Name]”. If you decide to avail our services, we will draft a contract and discuss the terms of the services you have chosen.

Most of our procedures rely on the concentration and the purity of the protein. We suggest checking the quality of your protein through your own means or through other services offered by the PPMF prior to sample analysis.  For recombinant protein samples, we strongly suggest the submission of freshly expressed or purified proteins and/or prepared extracts for better results. The ideal time for the best sample quality is within 2 weeks after expression and/or extraction.

Prior to the conduct of analysis experiments, the quality of the test samples will be determined to check their suitability.  We will discuss the results of these QC tests with you to help determine the appropriate steps to take before analysis proceeds.

To know the availability of equipment, you may visit the PPMF Instrument Availability Teamup link. Please accomplish the Order Form III – Equipment Rental for reservation.

For rescheduling, please email us one (1) week before the intended use of the equipment with the subject “EQPT RESCHED: [Equipment]”.

The facility is open Mondays to Fridays from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm except during public holidays.   Some experiments may be scheduled to run during the weekends depending on the availability of the equipment.

The PPMF staff will update you regularly on your run schedule, your currently running services, pending service/s, or completed service/s. You may inquire about the status of your sample and/or progress of the service/s through email. An estimated timeline of the analysis will also be provided upon the acknowledgment of receipt of samples by the PPMF staff.

The cost of service will depend on the service/s you would like to acquire. For a quote, please complete the Service Quotation Request form. You may also email us with the subject “RFQ: [Date MMDDYY] – [Last Name]”.

Payment through our accepted means is required before the service analysis can begin. A Purchase Order (PO) may also be presented as an alternative proof of payment. In the case that a PO is presented, the results will only be released upon receipt of full payment of the billed service.
