[Webinar] Cost, quality or throughput: The role of pathogen library prep workflows
towards a meaningful NGS output

Date: May 20, 2026 | Wednesday | 5:30 PM, Manila Time

About the Speaker

Majo recently completed her PhD degree in Virology from the Medical Research Council Centre for Virus Research at the University of Glasgow, with specialization in genomics technologies and viral and bacterial bioinformatics. Prior to this, she worked for almost 10 years at the IMBB NIH UP Manila as a research staff under two multi-institutional and collaborative grants on dengue evolution, transmission, viral metagenomics and host transcriptomics. During her combined years of work and academic experience in genomics, she has developed skillset designing and troubleshooting viral and bacterial sequencing workflows, bioinformatics pipelines and downstream data analysis and visualization. Her research interest primarily involves developing quality-driven modular genomics workflows that can be easily adapted in resource-limited laboratories towards enhancing viral and bacterial surveillance in the country. She is also an advocate of developing and delivering learner-based approach for next generation sequencing trainings and workshops.
