The Philippine Genome Center (PGC) Core Facility for Bioinformatics is inviting Filipino college students and young professionals in science and engineering for a training and internship program in bioinformatics. This will be held during the mid-year period from June 15 – July 24, 2026, and primarily conducted face-to-face.
⚠️A limited number of slots will be reserved for applicants who cannot attend in-person and will be allowed to attend fully online.💻 Interested individuals from public and private colleges, universities, and research institutions in the Philippines are invited to apply.
📍The internship will be conducted onsite at the Lecture Hall 2 of the Philippine Genome Center.
Eligibility Requirements
☑️ All applicants must fulfill the following requirements:
- Must be enrolled or have graduated in any natural science and math (NSM) and/or a computer science degree, or a related field
- Has experience in at least one programming language (e.g. Python, Java, R, etc.)
- Self-motivated to study and to learn about multiple disciplines
- Excellent English written and oral communication skills
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
- Familiarity with the Unix/Linux command line environment is a plus
- Able to commit full-time during the course of internship (approx. 240 hours total)
- Must be Filipino citizens and current residents of the Philippines
Student applicants must be undergraduate (at least 3rd year standing) or graduate students in good academic standing at an accredited college or university in the Philippines. Young professional applicants must have a BS degree in a science or engineering field and be a researcher and/or faculty member employed at a research or higher education institution in the Philippines.
💻Participation for online participants requires a personal computer (laptop or desktop) with a reliable high-speed internet connection.
