Course Description:

This course aims to provide a thorough understanding of general topics such as recombinant protein expression, purification, quantification, and characterization. This workshop will also provide insight into the general pipeline for recombinant protein handling and the fundamental theories and applications involved for Fast Protein Liquid Chromatography.

Learning Outcomes:

– Concepts behind protein purification
– Operation of the AKTA Pure 25L1 Fast Protein Liquid Chromatography System
– Principles and process behind protein detection, quantification and characterization
– Learning to do the SDS-PAGE to characterize proteins and the Bradford assay to quantify proteins
– Learning the data analysis process for protein characterization and quantification
– Learning how to present SDS-PAGE gels and process bradford assay data
